You guys! Seriously, I am so far behind on my blogging, but I am so excited to start catching up! I'm going to try to blog a senior a week!
Back in September, I shot Caitlin’s senior portraits at Inniswoods Metro Gardens and it was so much fun! Caitlin is a friend of one of my 2016 seniors and I knew she was going to be incredible to photograph! She is beyond gorgeous- LOVE her eyes- and just an enormous amount of fun to capture!
I always love when my seniors bring along an instrument they play and show off their talents, and I was so happy Caitlin brought along her violin! Ohhh, I love the sweet sound it makes! I found out she was even interested in studying the same majors as me in college! And her style was so on point. Gahh I just love her! I hope you enjoy her images as much as I do!
Caitlin, have an amazing senior year! Soak it all in! Thank you for allowing me to take your senior portraits! Xo
Back to blogging (at least for a minute)! I met Chelsey and Matt only a week or so before their wedding day and I loved hearing all the details they had planned! They were planning an outdoor ceremony with unique spins on the traditional wedding day.
These two had such an amazing day. I love September weddings. The colors Chelsey chose were so beautiful and her dress was to die for! When she was feeling a little anxious about the day, the only person to calm her was her soon-to-be husband, Matt. The world surrounded them on this day.
Chelsey and Matt were married by a shaman. I had never experienced a ceremony like this! There were so many traditional aspects to the day, but these two made it completely their own by incorporating their unique spirituality. The day even ended with a drum circle! It was so fun to see the Native American touches that were added. The dream catchers surrounding the reception were all so beautiful!
My favorite parts of this day (besides the drum circle!) were actually the speeches their friends gave about their love story. Chelsey and Matt seemed to have found each other at just the right time in their lives. And my absolute favorite moment was with Matt and Chelsey's daughter. These two had such a special connection. I loved seeing this family become complete.
Here are some of my favorites from my final wedding of 2016! Congratulations, Matt + Chelsey!
What a beautiful wedding! This was my first time shooting at WatersEdge in Hilliard and it was so pretty! Both the wedding and the reception were here! The sunset was absolutely incredible! Brandi walked in and even before she put her dress on, she was stunning! Brandi looooves Disney and incorporated little pieces of that love into the wedding day! Perhaps without realizing it, I think Brandi could have been her own Disney princess!! Seriously, gorgeous and her dress just added to the perfection! Michael looked so spiffy as well and because I've known him for so long, it was so surreal seeing him all dressed up on his wedding day. The white kicks were my favorite! Watching him watch his beautiful bride walk down the aisle melted my heart. Also, let's be real, she wasn't just a bride, she seriously had princess status! Michael's brother-in-law officiated the ceremony, which made it extra special. I couldn't wait to get to the reception because I knew this was going to be a fun celebration! The reception hall was decorated so beautifully and I loved seeing their engagement photos all around the fireplace! The first dances were so special, and my favorite was when Michael announced a first dance with each of his older sisters. What a guy! The joy on their faces totally had me crying. I was so happy to see Brandi and Michael enjoying their night surrounded by their family and friends! The night ended with a sparkler exit and a last dance. I hope your wedding day was everything you dreamed it would be, Brandi and Michael! And that your honeymoon in... DISNEY!!! was so much fun!

Happy Wednesday, y’all! This is my first maternity session ever and I love it so much! Sam reached out to me this past summer, so excited for their first baby! I adore pretty mommas-to-be in long flowy dresses and flower crowns on pinterest (haha) And I couldn’t wait to meet Sam and her husband Josh and create these images in celebration of their baby! I anxiously awaited Sam’s email to see if they would be having a boy or a girl! Sam and Josh radiated happiness over their little peanut, and I loved photographing them together. Being my first maternity session, I honestly wasn’t sure if I would enjoy shooting this type of session (I was a bit nervous), but I have to tell you after photographing Sam and Josh and that baby bump, I was able to fall in love with photography all over gain. As a wedding photographer, I typically witness the beginning of a love story: he engagement and the wedding day - two people promising forever together. Weddings are so joyous, but seeing two people so in love, now adding to their family, that love growing even stronger than before, brought that wedding day joy to the next level. Am happy. Xo
Over and over again I told Kim, “I don’t do newborns.” I can’t pose them. I have no idea how to hold one. From all the stories I’ve heard, they’re constantly crying and peeing, and pooping all over the place. No thanks. Kim didn’t care.
So… as I pulled up to Pat and Kim’s home, I was a bit nervous…. Not even about the crying and the pooping and peeing but about the photos. I had watched so many youtube videos to prepare for this day.
Right when I stepped in and saw this precious family, all of my worries disappeared. They are perfect. I absolutely adore these sweet friends of ours and I knew they would be incredible parents. Seeing them for the first time with their babies made my heart so happy. Brooke and Cooper are so precious, every little piece of them. I instantly loved them.
The nursery was the most beautiful room… down to every little detail. I seriously don’t think I’ve ever seen such a beautiful nursery before! I could have spent even longer just photographing the details in the room!
Brooke was so funny! She kept making silly faces, especially with her eyes. Cooper was fast asleep nearly the entire time. He made the cutest little baby coos. Kim told me she thought it would be the opposite with Cooper not wanting to sleep and Brooke asleep!
Watching Kim and Pat hold Brooke and Cooper… I swoon. I am so happy for this family. I cannot wait to see these babies grow. Their personalities already shine!
Congratulations, Pat + Kim! You are amazing for bringing such lovely little babies into this world. And even though I was nervous at first, I l o v e d photographing your newborn twins! xoxo
Ps. This post features Buster, the family cat (:
Buster thought the red light on my flash was meant to be captured.
First loves, do you remember yours? Joy was just in junior high school when she and Kyle met and started hanging out. They began talking and I heard Joy’s mom say lightheartedly as the girls were getting dressed, “I didn’t think it would ever last.” They were so young- Beginning high school!“But here we are.” Their family and friends surrounded them on a bright and sunny summer afternoon as they tied the knot.
Joy and Kyle were both completely ready for the day. I was so excited they chose to do a first look. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a groom beam as big as Kyle did when he turned around to see Joy. It was such a perfect moment! He spun her around, couldn’t take his eyes off his gorgeous bride, and he kissed her and kissed her. Their happiness was infectious then and throughout the rest of the day.
After we grabbed some portraits at a little park near the ceremony and reception site, we headed off for the wedding. As Joy’s grandfather walked her down the aisle, Kyle waited at the end, taking the moment in. Their ceremony was so personable, telling their character, and you could see how much they both loved each and every detail of the other. Family and friends laughed alongside and cheered as Kyle kissed his bride!
These two are seriously s o m u c h f u n. I love when couples actually smash the cake, and oh boy! They sure did! Their first dance was one of my favorites!! I Wanna Grow Old With You. Sooo so perfect. The first dances were absolutely beautiful. Kyle picked up Joy on the dance floor and sang to her. So adorable! I always cry during the father daughter dances, and of course as Joy danced with her grandfather to Butterfly Kisses… which I hear at almost every other wedding, you would think I would be able to keep it together at some point… I had to keep wiping my eyes to see. (Check out Joy’s tattoo on her foot below)
I don’t think I’ve seen so many different ages on the dance floor all at once at a wedding reception! There were kids, parents, and grandmas out there and the reception was such a blast! I think almost everyone was dancing! I was about ready to throw down my camera and join them!
Joy + Kyle, congratulations! Thank you for choosing me to capture your day! I pray you are blessed with a lifetime of love and happiness together as you begin this new chapter.
Maria, Maria! Oh my goodness, I walked in to see Maria looking so so so beautiful! I know Maria from church and I am so honored to have been able to take her senior portraits. Although I’ve only been there for a few years, it’s been amazing to see these kids grow into such amazing young adults!
Maria is beyond sweet. She attends Metro high school in Columbus. I had so many questions about this school, so of course I asked away! Maria told me that to get in to Metro, it’s a complete lottery for Columbus area schools- all you have to do is apply. They have a partnership with Ohio State and these high school kids are able to take college classes at OSU with “real” college students! Not only that, but she is in an accelerated program, so she is technically graduating early and will already have some of her college classes taken care of. The nerd inside of me loves all of this!
Now, accelerating through school can be a curse or a blessing depending on whether you know what you want to do, you know, for the r e s to fy o u r life! But Maria seems to have that figured out as well! She adores plants. Yes, plants! Walking around during her session, she was able to name off so many plants and flowers, which I thought was so cool. She is hoping to continue her studies in horticulture at OSU.
For Maria’s session, we explored her elementary school and park near her home in Upper Arlington. Everything was looking great until right when we got to the school and it started POURING down rain. I had checked the weather several times that day, and my Grumpy Cat Weather app said it was only supposed to be cloudy. It looked like it would pass, so we hid under an awning and waited it out. I am so glad we did because after the rain stopped, the sun was so crazy amazing.
Maria brought along her friend Jenna to help her with her outfit changes and she was so helpful in making Maria laugh. I’ve got jokes, but I’m not sure they are actually funny. These two had so many inside jokes it was so easy! Thanks, Jenna!
Oh, and Maria’s mom showed up on a beautiful old bike, so naturally, I asked her hop off and asked Maria to hop on! Check it out below! It’s so pretty!
After the shoot, Maria and Jenna took off for sushi. These two reminded me so much of The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants girls (and Maria is Greek, so she would totally be Lena).
Here are some of my favorites from Maria’s summer senior session! xo
Brennan W | Liberty High School
2017 Senior Ambassador | Story Told Photography
Everybody! Meet Brennan! He was actually my first 2017 senior rep to sign up for a session back in the winter! Brennan was willing to wake up super early on a hot July Saturday with me. I am always so grateful for these rare morning senior sessions- I always try to convince them with that glowy light! I had so much fun shooting this senior and learning so much about him!
I cannot believe I shot his senior photos! I coached figure skating with Brennan’s dad and I remember seeing photos of him when he was so much younger! Time flies so fast.
Brennan loves to travel and backpack with his family. They just got back from a long trip in Europe and got to see some amazing places, including Greece! I am so jealous!
I love when seniors incorporate their sports into their sessions and Brennan is quite an active senior besides backpacking. He also plays volleyball and soccer. It was fun watching him set the ball (I think that was what it was called!!) and also dribble the soccer ball. I think I got that right! I know nothing about these sports, but it was so cool to watch!
And Brennan doesn’t stop there. He also works hard as a rink guards at The Chiller!
Brennan chose Liberty Park for his photos. We actually snuck some photos in his backyard too because it was so pretty! I loved how the park had both the volleyball nets and the soccer goals- both of Brennan’s sports in one place!
This guy is tall, too! Super tall. I was on my tiptoes constantly trying to get just the right angle.
Brennan, thanks so much for waking up early and being such a good sport about photos! I hope you have a fantastic senior year and make lots of memories!
Here are some of my favorites from his shoot!
Kaycie H
Class of 2017
Senior Ambassador
Pickerington Central
I love when clients want to sit down with me first over coffee to talk about their shoot and really make sure I am the photographer for them. I was looking forward to meeting Kaycie and her mom for Starbucks one bright, sunny, Saturday morning. Well, I ended up meeting with just mom. We instantly connected. She told me all about Kaycie, but there was only one problem: Kaycie did not want to partake in the senior photo tradition.
I was so confused. Kaycie’s mom showed me a photo of her and I couldn’t believe she didn’t want to do senior portraits!! She is super gorgeous. I couldn’t wait to photograph her and hopefully show her just how incredibly beautiful she is.
Kaycie hopped out of the car less than happy to be at Jeffrey Mansion on a summer weekday evening, but once we got to know each other, I think her attitude towards photos changed (I hope!).
Kaycie is so much like me! Seriously! I thought it was so cool that she was also into politics. She is strongly opinionated and that’s exactly how I was at her age. I could argue my point to the death and I think Kaycie could as well! Our views are extremely similar, and I love that I met a teen who cares enough about the issues to speak on them.
She loves PacSun and Ulta and Starbucks. Yes, girl. Me too.
While Kaycie and I didn’t get to dig into the weeds on all our similarities too much during her session, her mom had mentioned that she had a Youtube channel where she showed how she did her makeup. Seriously, her makeup looked so good! I wanted to see what she used and how she did it. So, I googled it and found it! And I discovered Kaycie.
I love so much that she shares the love of Christ and how He has changed her life.
Kaycie: I hope you see yourself the way I do in these images. You are strong. You are brave. You are beautiful. And you are loved.
Erica’s father gave one of the most heartfelt speeches I have ever heard at a wedding, wishing his daughter and now son-in-law a lifetime of happiness. In his speech, he mentioned that Erica was a planner (which makes me love her oh so much more). And Erica has had her eye on Zach since elementary school.
